It's all downhill from here - Lemmy.zip

How about the fact that as the overall population becomes top heavy with the elderly and fewer young people … the economy won’t be able to sustain paying for older people because there will be too few young people driving the economy.

This isn’t meant to divide … this is an honest worry of mine because I’m middle aged and by the time I get old and feeble, the economy probably won’t be able to afford to care for people my age.

Unless you’re a billionaire, millionaire or the child of one, we’re all screwed.

Just like abortion, retirement age, infrastructure spending, those things change and will be changed. They may change for the better or become far worse depending on your perspective.
What kind of perspective does one need to have to believe it is good when there are no resources (money, people) to care for the elderly?
The perspective of corporations or billionaires.
I just wanted to reply “but those who aren’t rich would suffer” before I realised that’s not part of the perspective of rich people, probably…
Definitely not the ultra rich, they can’t relate. They’re like toddlers and middle schoolers, they think everyone has had the same experience. I had one wealthy friend that grew up that way that was sincerely a good person and donated tons of expertise and traded for services for those who couldn’t afford them. They actually didn’t understand why anyone wouldn’t buy their condo or cars in full and in cash, because it’s so much more financially smart that way. Go figure.
