The Kei-tora Gardening Contest is an annual event put on by the Japan Federation of Landscape Contractors to see who can build the best-looking garden on the back of a Kei truck. Here are some of the winners from the past 12 years. http://zoenren-osaka.jp/activity.html

@docpop

True marvels! What artistry. I love the plush green, the feeling of water, of being embraced by this green in the first photo. What a wonderful place to sit and just ‘be’. Thank you for these green dreams!

@docpop next project for your tiny truck @Dangerous_beans ?
@jpm @docpop sadly i am terrible at gardening and need the space to haul materials
@docpop Oh my! I love this so much!
@docpop oh yes, I remember that NHK World had a short segment about that on Japanology Plus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtPZ-EyAyWY&t=960

@daniel_bohrer I hadn’t seen that before. Thanks!
@docpop Kei trucks are so incredibly based. I love them. If I had a truck it would absolutely be a kei truck.
@docpop Please let me get stuck in traffic behind one of these trucks!

@docpop I've seen something similar done with parking spaces.

Gotta love the one with seating and somewhere to rest your cuppa.

@docpop Back in October of 2013, I stumbled on a Banksy installation inside a panel truck that was doing something similar. Guerilla pop-up on Central Park West (at 77th, I think), complete with lighting, a bridge, and a WORKING WATERFALL. Folks crowded around trying to figure out what it was all about. After about 15 or 20 minutes, a guy in coveralls and a hat, pulled low, turned off the lights and the waterfall pump, closed up the back of the truck, and drove it off.

@charliepark rad! I hadn’t heard about this one before https://mymodernmet.com/banksy-new-york-delivery-truck/

Some friends of mine used to put together an event in MYC and SF where artists decorated box tricks with experiences. I wonder if Banksy was inspired by those https://docpop.org/2010/12/lost-horizon-night-market/

It’s neat, either way.

Banksy's NY Delivery Truck Turned Enchanting Garden Installation

If you're a Banksy fan, there's no other place you'd want to be right now than New York City. The elusive artist has started an entire show on the streets

@docpop Beautiful! ❤️

I'm reminded of a local activist and their sprouting cabriolet -- a car filled with soil in which plants grow, to protest against the small cost of parking in public streets vs. the bureaucratic nightmare of renting the same space for urban gardening: http://christophschwarz.net/cabriobeet/

@docpop Love it. I could not resist to use it in my recent presentation on Zen Gardening and Interaction Design :: https://mprove.de/script/23/hawk/index.html
