@dangillmor And yet, many of your peers still regard both of you as unrealistic scolds for thinking journalists can and should set a better example by making the smallest effort to put the health of democracy and journalism over the health of their brands. Plenty of them have proven there is life after Twitter. The complaints are just self-interest masquerading as rational objections.

@dangillmor Well, I am surprised to find he is, because I thought he wrote a splendid rant a while back which I assumed meant he was leaving at the time. But he seems to do a lot more boosting than posting. I am sure he wants to be off there. But then I do too. I repost 5% of what I post here, mostly to remind others that we’re over here doing what we always did.

Or is journalism joining in?

Because news coverage of Project 2025 is weak. Some outlets reported on. It as early as August. A bunch ignored it until November. And a fair number still are not telling the public the right-wing plan to cancel democracy.

That is fucked up.

@dangillmor I used to think that (1) aid agencies were mostly doing good; (2) academic reseach was an agnostic process that was improving our lives overall; (3) the most insidious -isms (namely, racism) were being drummed out of social life.

I don't entirely disbelieve those thoughts now (except the racism). Just that I understand they are laden with asterisks and exceptions. So i need to have more nuanced, informed approach.
