Tiny Privacy Motivational Tip 🔒:

If you ever decide to start reducing your digital prints, be patient.

Don't give up because it seems too big to achieve, take smaller steps instead. Every small step helps.

You don't need to do it all at once, it can be a long process. Be patient. Do one little thing per week.
You got this ✨

@Em0nM4stodon "Every journey begins with a single step."

I'd add (if I may) to pick just one area. Whether it's moving away from the large intrusive email providers (gmail / outlook.com etc) or changing messaging platforms or taking a break from FaceInstaSnapWhats etc.

And then building on it over time.

:)

@Em0nM4stodon took me months of every once in a while turning on my old phone to start deleting my accounts 1 by 1 for every app and website I used that's associated with that old gmail. Still gonna take some more time if I wanna be thorough. If I tried to do it all in a short period of time I'd be very stressed
@Em0nM4stodon This is such good advice. Every small step adds up. 😁

And in addition:
There is no order for the steps and there is no dependencie.
So if you don't like one of the steps or can't do it. Don't stop or roll back.
Just try another one.

@Em0nM4stodon Great advice! I'm currently working on this myself. Come a long way but there is much still to do.

It's a balance of convenience and privacy.

We also need to remember not to forget security, which goes hand in hand with privacy.

@Em0nM4stodon As someone who has been blogging under a weak socially-protective but not essential pseudonym for the last 20 years, I can confirm the value of the long view. My realname identity has become visible or discoverable many times for many different reasons, but time heals all wounds. I take simple steps within my control to staunch the present leak. Time and entropy have always cleaned up any lingering messes. Mistakes or lacks of caution from a few years ago almost never matter today.
