The oldest selfie I have seen is this adorable mirror selfie from Japan, around 1920 - gotta give credit where credit is due ❤️
Reminds me of this corker, white British pop singer claims to have invented Rap, in 1987
Sorry to link to the bird site but I can't find a short clip elsewhere where Carol Decker, of one hit wonder pop group T'Pau, complains she doesn't get the credit she deserves for inventing Rap (on a song from 1987) Quote: "I actually invented rap, and I do not get the credit for it that I deserve" Mind blowing Karen behaviour 😂 https://twitter.com/miffythegamer/status/1625044700242616320?s=19
I was hoping to never hear from these two twits again, but if they're appropriating the credit for decades upon decades of self-photographers, well, it's dead-on on-brand.
They're hardly original and they created nothing. Selfies originated in 1839 per the Library of Congress.

How "Selfie" Was Born in Australia (And Took Over the World)
Oxford Dictionaries has named selfie its Word of the Year, bringing a great deal of attention to the trendy word. As it turns out, this social-media-friendly term for a photograph of oneself first cropped up in Australia, where the "-ie" ending is often used to form new words.
