The many varieties of #fountainpens over the past 140 yrs is all the proof anyone needs to see that there is no valid reason for anyone to #infringe upon the #tradedress and #designs of another company. It is extremely #unethical to enrich yourself by copying the work of those who made the investment and shouldered the market risk establishing their original products, and anyone who buys these #ripoffs or endorses them in any way, including by reviewing them, should be ashamed of themselves.
@gcvsa I agree if they’re actually infringing on a trademark (i.e. fakes, pretending to be something they’re not), but designs become public domain after a maximum of 25 years. If IP protection were non-expiring, that would create an eternal monopoly for a particular product, which is not for the public good. The risk that inventors and designers take is rewarded with time-limited exclusivity, it doesn’t make sense for it to be unlimited because that prevents innovation and remixing of ideas.
