To anyone who fears Trump’s MAGA movement:

Trump used to have 87.4 million followers on Twitter, back when politically he was still operating in the realm of democracy.

The new, more radicalized Trump only has 6.5 million followers on Truth Social.

It would be a lot more worrying, if 87.4 million people had followed him into the realm of fascism. They did not.

@randahl I still wish he would "expire!". The world would be a better place
@otownKim He will.
@randahl Before 24 election 🤞🤞 🤔🤣

@otownKim I mean, Trump won't be able to win because of the indictments. I talk about it here:

Trump is running… for prison

@randahl Trump was underestimated in 2016, and he is being overestimated for 2024.
@harry @randahl I sure hope so. I‘ll do my part in defeating him.
@sebastianhahn @randahl Thank you for that!
@harry @randahl I‘m registered as a Democratic voter in Marin County, California. Next up is PRIMARY SEASON in March of 2024.
@harry @randahl Ha, hab gerade mal Gramm.online aufgerufen. Deggendorf, da habe ich von Februar bis Juli 2005 am Comenius Gymnasium unterrichtet. Wie klein die Welt doch ist… 🥂
@randahl unfortunately most polling currently says it would be a mistake to write the despot off

@ozzy @randahl Most polling is wrong. I don’t think he wins back any of the states that he lost in 2020.

His supporters are just loud.

@randahl

He’ll reactivate on twitter whenever it’s expedient. Those people and bots are still there.

@randahl unfortunately his twitter followers can now find all the fascism they need on twitter without having to move to Truth Social

@randahl

A perfect example of "bad statistics". Twitter then and Truth Social now had a base membership orders of magnitude different so the comparison is meaningless, even if it makes us fee better.

@the5thColumnist I believe the comparison is very relevant, because it shows, Trump does not have the leverage, some people think he does.

When he ran in 2016 he had A LOT of control over the narrative. But 2024 will be very different from that. With all those court cases coming, he can scream “fake indictments” to his fewer followers on Truth Social all he wants — it will be the DA’s and the judges who control the narrative much more than it will be him.

I believe it already is.

@randahl
For the reasons stated the comparison has no statistical relevance even if your conclusions are coincidentally correct. America underestimated him and overestimated the intelligence of the electorate once. It can happen again.
@the5thColumnist so you think posting to 6.5 million followers has the same impact as posting to 87.4 million followers?
@randahl
No but comparing the number of followers someone had on the most popular site to at one date to the number they have on a site with considerably less reach on a different date is statistically meaningless. But i will not comment further on what should be obvious except to say America underestimates the threat of Trump at their own peril.
