I had a lovely lunch once with my very elderly mum and dad, and my oldest sister in a very nice restaurant in Dublin.
My dad was host, and ordered what he considered to be the obligatory two bottles of wine.
My mum had a touch of dementia and needed a little minding for if/when she wandered off. Half a glass of wine.
My sister was designated driver and mummy-watcher/finder. Half a glass of wine.

My job, my sister informed me, was to, "keep dad company".
Say 5 glasses to a bottle; ten glasses total, minus 1 divided between Mum and sis.
After sis returned from retrieving mum from the parking lot, I nudged her to say, " I can't feel my face, it's gone numb!".
The conversation was excellent, I remember none of it. We left at least (thank the gods) half of the second bottle. In vino veritas, if we could only remember what said. They should bring transcribers.
