I'm over my self-pitying rant.
I will stop reading comments before I stop posting.
I think, though, that helping people understand the First Amendment issues at stake in the gag orders is less important than helping people understand that the real danger to democracy is misinformation and disinformation, and these things cannot be fixed through the legal system.
It was certainly not self-pity.
There is rage, of course. But the fundamental is fear. Extremists have become mainstream and are coming for our democracy, coming for us.
There is a real basis for being alarmed but a state of panic is as you say an enemy of reason.
Tribalism is a trap for us too. We need solidarity without tribalism. Difficult.
Edit: Where we get 'news' is a factor but as important is the 'how much' news. If a rest seems like betrayal, that is a problem.
