@defparam Hi, I know it's been a while and I hope all is well. And this is a stretch. But do you have any SNES Expansion Headers left?

(I'll have to look into making/soldering my own if not)

@cr1901 hey! Nice running in to ya again! Not a stretch at all! I do happen to have a stash that actually was owned by @[email protected]. He graciously donated them to me back when we were working on this research with Near. I also happen to have the custom width top loader connectors as well. So in the picture there’s 20+ of qwerty’s expansion PCBs. Around 11 black surface mount MEC2 connectors, 6 white MEC2 surface mount connectors , 8 of the surface mount IDC connectors and 16 of the throughhole toploader connectors. Keep in mind the MEC2s have to be modified to fit the console

@defparam That's actually really awesome and may mean my idea is possible. How much do the MEC2s have to be modified, and what tools will I require? And how much does it cost to get two or three (for when I inevitably fuck up the first one)?

My current plan is to attach some DB25 to IDC cable adapter I have to a breadboard, and develop a firmware from that.

@cr1901 I’m happy to ship some for free since qwertymodo gave them to me for free. I would consult him on how to perform the process of fashioning those connectors. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to , otherwise I would attempt the work

@defparam I reached out to him already on Space Karen Site:

I'll see what he has to say.

That would be extremely awesome if it's no cost, tyvm. I'll be in contact in the coming days/weeks. I was on the fence on getting a Super Everdrive b/c I only want a flash cart for homebrew (FXPAK is too expensive). So I'm still working out the details of what I want to get.

@cr1901 so I just found this in my stash and I don’t mind parting ways with it

Is this roughly what you were looking at making?

@defparam Yes, this is what I had in mind pretty much exactly. I think the expansion port is grossly underutilized. Perhaps I could gauge interest for a small run if I get my homebrew loader off the ground.

It'll still be less expensive than FXPAK. And if I get a cheap homebrew-oriented flash cart w/ USB:

Your adapter will go to a good home, where I can find ways to play with it :).

@cr1901 OK yeah so I remember now, the connectors and this breakout board was build/paid for by qwerty.. he sent them my way to debug some issue he was having with the firmware board I had designed, but the breakout works fine … if he’s OK with it then I don’t mind parting ways with it and any connectors PCBs etc you may want for future research and builds.

@defparam I'll discuss that w/ qwertymodo and get you an address by New Year's. I'm still figuring out exactly what I want to do re: what flash cart I want.

If KrikZZ won't help me/thinks I'm being too nosy about how the Everdrive works, then I'm prob gonna go an alternate route/use the snes-exp for other purposes.

@defparam Update: Super Everdrive didn't arrive yet, so I'm still waiting on that before giving an address :P.
@cr1901 no worries, let me know when ready

@defparam It is 10 months later. I finally reached out to qwertymodo today. I don't even know if you check this account still lol. But worth a shot.

(FWIW, I'm going to release a new project soon. I had a particularly bad hyperfocus getting it working the past 2 months. To the detriment of a lot of things. So that explains... 2 months of delay...)

@cr1901 ya I’m here! :)

@defparam Awesome, beautiful, tyvm. Do you:

1. Still have the adapter?
2. Are willing to part w/ it and connected if qwertymodo is okay w/ it?

I've reached out to qwertymodo and I will see what he thinks. I'll probably spot him a few $ to get more connectors made too, since he asked for some help.
