I am shocked at the difference in cost for veterinary services between our vet in Canada and our vet here in Las Vegas.

I wonder if these are indicative of the norm in the US vs. Canada, or if there's regional considerations, or if one of them is just an outlier.

Our vet in Ontario quoted us $1100+ CAD ($800+ USD) to have Zoe spayed. We've had this vet for years and have always found him to be reasonably priced compared to other vets. We even get a discount because we've been seeing him for years.

Our vet in Vegas quoted us $490 USD ($675 CAD) for the same thing.

We were in Vegas last year when we got Zoe, and I found even routine checkups and vaccinations were substantially cheaper here than back in Ontario.

@dave I think this is a typical cross-border difference. Lots of folks in Brockville used to drive the 20 minutes across the border to NY for vet care because the cost was so much less. Probably some regional cost differences, too, but I think the former is the biggest factor.

@beckyyurkowski Oh hey, nice to see you on here 😀

That's kinda what I suspected, but didn't wanna draw conclusions from two vets

@dave 👋 thank you! R talked me into re-trying Masto as a social media that's a little safer for my brain, so giving it a go!

@beckyyurkowski I love it. I've never been engaged with any social media for as long and as consistently as I have with Masto. It takes a little more work to build your timeline and find your people than the algo-driven platforms, but as with most authentic social connections, I find you get out what you put in.

I attribute a large part of my autistic journey to the community that I've found here.
