#today I'm proposing a new word. Feel free to disagree with me on what it's called but I think we all recognise this thing.

[pɜ(ɹ)ːfɹiːʃ]

An item purchased, not because the purchaser wanted or needed it, but because its addition qualified the main purchase for free shipping.

“This pen? It was a purfreesh. I was buying wine glasses and a cookbook, and I was $11 away from free shipping, so …”

@negative12dollarbill I think you meant [pɜ(ɹ)ːfɹiːʃ]? “I” isn’t in the IPA, and though [ɪ] is, that would be indicated orthographically as “purfrish”
