Nonsense mutation suppression is enhanced by targeting different stages of the protein synthesis process

Some drugs can induce readthrough of nonsense mutations to restore expression of full-length proteins, but most such drugs are toxic and have limited effects. This study shows that disrupting the translation initiation complex and other stages of the translation process can enhance drug-mediated readthrough.
