WTF UoA managers! Even when you haven't asked an academic to share their domain expertise with the public, that's a key part of exercising their academic freedom. Defending their academic freedom is a key part of your job. As is making sure the uni fulfills its statutory role as "critic and conscience" of our public institutions. Which is what Wiles was doing on your behalf.

How dare you try to cover your failure to do your jobs, by accusing her of seeking fame by doing hers. Shame on you!
