At this point, a thud interrupted him. Someone must have fallen, because Biden looked over and said, āYou okay?ā
Biden followed with a pause and a glance around before saying, āI want the press to know that wasnāt me.ā
As the audience cheered and laughed, he then turned in a pretty accurate impression of Trumpās impression of him, supposedly staggering, bewildered, away from a podium.
Letās be clear about what happened: Biden responded to someone apparently falling in his audience by
1) appropriately checking in on them,
2) making fun of the mediaās obsession with his supposed infirmity, and
3) making fun of Trumpās obsession with the same.
Thatās high level functioning in exactly the way weāre relentlessly told Biden does not do
That shouldnāt overshadow Bidenās message to the UAWāthough he managed to draw laughs there, too
