Flight DeckI saw the @JetTip alert for "A001" this morning and thought for sure it was a data error, but no: that's the tail number of #Indonesia's presidential aircraft! Leading up to #APEC next week, some Chinese airlines have also returned to #SFO. And BA is sending the A380 again. #aviation #planespotting

@midendian I remember spotting in San Francisco years ago and being really disappointed at those runways being quite far away. Mind if I ask focal length? And full or crop sensor? Of course this was before the days of spotters walking around w/ 600 mm glass, sooo
@User47 yeah SFO can be pretty disappointing for photography. for arrivals across the water, 600mm on full frame is probably about right for heavies, but the air is often too wiggly to support it. departures from the terminal area are much closer (300mm probably ideal) but not much choice in composition and there’s often random obstructions.
@User47 (I use a Canon 100-400L IS Mk2 on a 6D2 full frame fwiw. Enough pixels to crop down in post.)
