Almost uniquely among American journalists working at major outlets, @willbunch is calling his peers on their rank cowardice in the face of the emergency our nation faces.

We may well be one election away from a dictatorship, and Big Journalism's business-as-usual approach amounts to collaboration with enemies of democracy.

With the world on fire, a cowardly, timid news media is a threat to U.S. democracy

News organizations are using cowardly words to describe killing abroad and fascism at home — downplaying the danger to democracy.

@dangillmor @willbunch Excellent article. One of my favorite parts in this “explainer” screenshot of a post by Mark Jacobs.
@dangillmor @willbunch Btw, if Mike Johnson has no bank accounts, then I want reporters looking to see how he pays his rent, mortgage, and utility bills.

Get more judges and send indicted politicians to prison. No other way

Likely not asking the hard questions or pointing out the creepy scary hypocritical danger to our democratic republic because these sorts of reThugs block journalists, blacklist them, kick them out. It is a Catch 22: confront the dictator wanna-bes + risk losing the rights of the free press, which can lead to the loss of the free press permanently.
@dangillmor @willbunch the owners of the media companies want a seat at the table

@dangillmor @willbunch

> collaboration the enemies of democracy.

I think you meant "collaboration with the enemies of democracy"?

@VulcanTourist Yes, thanks for pointing that out. Fixed.

@dangillmor

My hint of autistic literalism dooms me to being an always-on proofreader. *shrug*

@dangillmor it's not cowardice, it's intentional.
@dangillmor @willbunch I truly think we are at risk of a theocratic dictatorship in the form of #christofascism.
@dangillmor @willbunch THIS SHOULD BE PREACHED TO THE ROOF TOPS.
@dangillmor @willbunch If only people that need to read this, would read this. That's obviously not happening. Because it contrasts their view. Don't believe our media is pressing hard enough. Every sentence that mentions trump should start with "Donald Trump, who is out on bail.."
