Why is Tata extending its 'Croma' brand, hitherto strongly associated with white goods retail, to sweets/mithai, of all things?!! 🤷

I thought it was some kind of joke, or there would be some twist in the next page... but, nothing! 1/4

2/4 These sweets are up against well-known brands like Haldiram's in the North, and MTR-type brands in the South, not to mention the incredibly strong local brands of each city, like Shree Anandhaas or Krishna Sweets or Annapoorna in places like Coimbatore, Chennai, etc. These brands have proven their mettle in making quality sweets over many years.
3/4 In comparison, how does Croma's mettle in white goods retail translate to a compelling value proposition in sweets? Is the idea merely to lure buyers of white goods with an add-on, unrelated product (at the Croma store) that they would anyway consider for the festive season? But wouldn't they prefer brands established in making sweets over 'Croma'?

4/4 And to think Tata already has a lot of food-related brands under Star Bazaar (offline retail of groceries) and Big Basket (online)! Where did Croma come from, for sweets... is a real mystery!
