The most disappointing part of being in tech is realizing how little most tech people care about world events, even when it directly affects them and the people around them. So many are truly living in a bubble.

@shantini I’m not specifically in tech but thinking about that a lot. Do they really not care? Are they not aware of it? Or is it an avoidance / protection strategy? Would it change anything if they showed that they cared?

I personally care about everything that’s happening everywhere, but if I start thinking about it too much I will just get overwhelmed and depressed. So I try to not think about it all as much as possible except at specific, limited times.

@elduvelle @shantini I think they’re* so caught up trying to “change the world” by writing code that they forget about actually getting to know the world and interacting with it

*) I’ve fallen for this trap as well; I’m trying to be more mindful
