Continuing this week's #WebcomicTalk on "filler." We have 2 questions over 2 remaining days.

Q4: "Would alterative media, such as short stories, animations, or podcasts in lieu of a comic update constitute filler?"

Please share the toot and use the hashtag #WebcomicTalk to spread the discussion around #webcomic creators. You can answer these questions any time you see them as well, even months later. We'll boost your replies as we see them.

@webcomictalk A4: If these things are being posted *instead* of scheduled pages and the things or links to them appear in the comic page flow, yes, they are filler. If they're an intentional part of the story flow, then no - they're just updates that happen to be in another medium. Lastly, even when they're not part of the story, if they're not part of the comic page flow / don't "fill" a scheduled page "slot", I don't consider them filler, they're just side content/extras then.
@webcomictalk Absoluely not, although more often than not what seems to be happen is even if something starts out as an adaptation, often evolves into expanding the universe or telling the story from a different MC. #WebcomicTalk
@webcomictalk I suppose technically if it took the spot of a story update, but I think those would normally feel like a "special" #WebcomicTalk
