Hey friends, it’s #NoVENNber! Let’s see those amazing Venn diagrams! Here’s one I found - unfortunately, I don’t know the source.

Edit: a couple friends did the legwork and let me know it’s an XKCD comic. Thanks, y’all!

@adhdeanasl @belore It's from xkcd:

https://xkcd.com/2090/

And it's technically not a Venn diagram:

@elzen thank you! And I technically don’t care whether it’s really one or not; It’s funny.
@adhdeanasl Yeah, you know about that time the Australian Army took on their close cousins, emus, and lost? And they'd brought machine guns to the fight! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_War

@ravensrod @cstross @adhdeanasl
Sadly it's an old myth and never happened. But a good story nonetheless. (Clarification: the emulated kangaroos).
@adhdeanasl
If you think ostriches are scary, wait until you see a #cassowary for the first time.
@adhdeanasl I'd add Canada geese (or any goose) as well as ostrich.
@adhdeanasl Here's the link in case anyone is interested: https://xkcd.com/2090/

@adhdeanasl love the sample. Can substitute goose or cassowary.
@adhdeanasl When I was a teenager in Florida, I encountered a large group of Sandhill cranes in a graveyard at night. Oddly terrifying.
@WeShall They were clearly there to laugh at their victims.
@adhdeanasl Or a goose, or a pigeon, or a magpie, or ...
Shit, they are all terrifying when angry.

@adhdeanasl I think this is probably the best Venn diagram ever (sorry, also don't know the source)

Edit: turns out the source is Stephen Wildish.

Thank @eclectech for the link!

@statsguy @adhdeanasl

Soooo Santa leads the Spider-God's inquisition?

@GuerillaGrue @statsguy @adhdeanasl
You seem very experienced in reading diagrams!

@statsguy @adhdeanasl oh I know who made that (it is excellent) - Stephen Wildish. More funny stuff here

@adhdeanasl

[I'm just quietly celebrating that XKCD's author uses "people who" and not "people that"]

@adhdeanasl @LibertyForward1 Or even just a mean rooster. We had one a bit like this, huge, that came up to my dad’s knees, with spurs about the length of your finger, that would aggro you wherever you entered the pen. You didn’t go in there without a stick and a big attitude.
@corbden @adhdeanasl *shudder* could they be trimmed or filed down?
@adhdeanasl well, thats one of my favourites, it has stayed with me since the early days of the pandemic. It's been titled "somehow we ended up here." #NoVENNber
@adhdeanasl and there is this, which I really like as well #NoVENNber
@Pterry @adhdeanasl can anyone explain "the dying gasp of wasps," please? #NoVENNber
@slirt @adhdeanasl I think this is how fig flowers are fertilized and also W.A.S.P. is a pretty well known acronym. For details, there is always any search engine you prefer.
@adhdeanasl My grandmother caught an ostrich and trapped it in our chicken coupe. lol Well, technically an Emu.
Geeks and Nerds

xkcd

@Plumbert @adhdeanasl
Geeks are carnival performers who do bizarre things like biting the heads off of bats.

Nerds are a brand of flavored sugar candy.

@adhdeanasl One of my favourite t-shirts - Schrödinger's Venn

@adhdeanasl *also applies to geese and cassowaries* (not personal experience, luckily)
@adhdeanasl I like this one by David Shrigley.
@aadschippers @adhdeanasl It's like the "What's the difference between an anti-vaxxer and a crocodile?" gag.
(You can reason with a crocodile).
