War is chock full of them - little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander."
I recently re-watched all of the seasons of M*A*S*H, and this is THE takeaway from the series.
This bit of dialogue in an episode almost exactly halfway through the series, is what M*A*S*H is all about. A comedy that makes you think. I'm so thankful for it, and the actors that delivered the lines in the scripts so well.
How brilliant to make an anti-war statement with war doctors who had a sense of humor, and a sense of morality.
