My favorite thing about the WaPo editorial is the totally unexamined assumption that if Democrats help the Republicans—a party opposed to doing the business of necessary governance—elect a Republican Speaker, the result will be Republicans getting down to the business of necessary governance.
@JuliusGoat
Good to see my Prime subscription being put to good use.

@JuliusGoat yup.

Any speaker elected with Dem support would have an even harder time governing the house than McCarthy. did. We'll be right back here, only worse. The only real way to have an upside is to continue to allow the right to circular-firing-squad itself into the next election. That sucks, but I think the alternatives suck just as bad if not worse.

@idlewise @JuliusGoat Unrealistic. No one shouting that would ever ride a bicycle.

@JuliusGoat
Right?

Like, you tone deaf assholes.

@JuliusGoat
My favorite part is the presumption that Calvin would accept Suzie's help in building his G.R.O.S.S. clubhouse
@JuliusGoat That's like three leaps of logic impossibly crammed into a single sentence.

@JuliusGoat

"this time" Lucy said, "this time the GOP will behave"

@JuliusGoat This time Charlie Brown, this time *for sure*, Lucy won't move that blasted football.
@JuliusGoat
Esp. considering that the choices are being narrowed to candidates who endorsed the Jan. 6 riot and overthrowing the election.
@JuliusGoat and once they continue the clusterfuck but with a speaker, it will be the democrats fault and their responsibility to fix 👍🏼
@JuliusGoat "Democracy dies in expired cottage cheese". Did I get that right? Yeah??
