After over a year of working on it (off and on again), I have finally finished my new ref sheet! â€‹đźŽ‰â€‹

...no idea when I'll start putting it to good use, but it's definitely a good thing to have—and I'm very happy it's finally done!

@DareLooks Goodness, that is so fluffy looking! And a very clear, well-detailed look at this lynx that, according to these specifications, could certainly be smaller…

Well done!

(Also happy to see another critter go for the blueprint background )

@digitalfox thank you! :D

And yes, yes, making this lynx much smaller is well within specifications, haha

@DareLooks Heh, that affirms my suspicion that the shrink ray is more a suggested tool to use on a lynx, and not something they/you try to use on others

(Unless part of the fun is having one's shrinking plans harmlessly backfire, like it is for another critter into shrinking that I know.)

@digitalfox It very much is, haha! And any shrink ray I own comes without a safety. Or an off-switch. Or a trigger guard. Also, they were all sold as untested, B stock or 'defect'. But I'm sure it's fiiine--luckily those floofy lynx paws aren't clumsy, at all!

@DareLooks Ooh..? Sounds like you're inviting all sorts of fun possibilities, with two off the top of my head already…

Do you have any particular favorite scenarios?

(And, aside, do lemme know if you'd prefer to not delve into this - or prefer CWs, more privacy, etc. I am intrigued, but there are no obligations =^.^=)

@digitalfox Oooh... Hard to say! Don't have anything too specific in mind...

Surprising accidents and 'unintentional consequences' scenarios are my favorites, I think!

Followed by casual or nonchalant stuff; like, getting shrunk after someone shouts "hey, watch this," haha!

Generally not a fan of anything too hostile or condescending, tbh

@DareLooks Ooh, those make sense!

When you mentioned all the lack of safety around shrink rays, it brought to mind the notion of yourself showing a friend around your place, only for them to ask "what's this sci-fi looking device?" and click-ZAP! Your house tour for your friend turns into a tour across your friend's big, fluffy body for you…

Or, say, offering to show off what the shrink ray can do to a disbelieving but consenting critter, only to fumble and zap yourself instead, becoming a hint of role-reversing who expected to be looking up at whom…

Regardless of whether these ideas fit, I similarly agree in not desiring anything demeaning or cruel. I'm all for affectionate roughhousing and teasing (I love weighted blankets), but no actual harm - physically overwhelming, but emotionally caring.

@digitalfox ooh, role-reversal can be a lot of fun!
Generally I have a hard time pinning down the specifics; I should ponder these things a lot more than I do, heh. Just another sign I should produce more self-indulgent art so I give stuff more thought, haha

@DareLooks Noted!

And I encourage exploring what you personally enjoy as your time and energy permits. I'm quite intrigued to learn more about the scenarios this lynx who shrinks would fit right in

(In part because what I have seen you share seems to appeal to me, too. E.g. I still vividly remember you showing off the little VR shrinking demo with the Pawperty fox scientist character zapping you down, then stepping right beside you…)

No obligations, of course. It can be harder to motivate doodling and such for oneself.

@digitalfox Oh, I have a REALLY hard time to find the time and energy to do any personal art, hah! Hence why it took me over a year to finish the ref sheet...

And thank you, that's really sweet! Also the fact you remember that VR demo, haha--man do I regret never doing much with it... Really hoped to turn it into some sort of interactive vignette thing; small in scope, but at least something I could share with people.... buuut alas!

@DareLooks Ah, yeah… High-five for being in the "took more than a year to finish ref-sheet" gang

I'd say that's fair - there's a large difference in effort between "works on my machine" and "most folks can try this out with their own VR headset", even if you keep the interaction down to "look around" and a "play again" button.

If you wind up tinkering with anything self-indulgent in the future, I'd be interested (if/when you're comfortable sharing) =^.^=
