It is a Handmaiden’s Tale level nightmare now in Texas, where Lubbock has become the largest county where it is illegal to travel through the county to receive abortion services in another state. This is what predictably happens when you throw a fundamental question of human rights “back to the states” to decide. We need Roe v. Wade and its legal protections codified.

@georgetakei

How does that not interfere with interstate commerce???

(A: A conservative judge will claim it's not interstate commerce until the person crosses into another state. Despite them being prevented from doing so by the law in question.)

@Frances_Larina @georgetakei

they'll also only harass minority cis passing women, or only actually prosecute marginalized women for doing it.

@artisanrox @georgetakei

But of course. "Good" women have the means to avoid all that nastiness.

@Frances_Larina @georgetakei “I mean, you’re still free, you’ll just get arrested.”
