The difference between Wikipedia and Twitter is that Wikipedia is intentionally a non-profit.
@MissingThePt Actually, Wikipedia has been caught several years in a row just... sitting on money that should've been used to hire curators. Musk is an idiot and missing the point, but Wikipedia really is weird for always asking for money despite not utilizing it.
@Cher @MissingThePt What do you mean, "should've been used"? If you think that because it's a non-profit, Wikipedia has to use all the money it receives during the year, you're wrong: their current strategy is to keep at least 4 months of cash reserves, which can be used if things go wrong. And if you look at their annual statement, you'll also see that the money they spent on salaries increased by 30% between 2021 and 2022, so it's not like they aren't using it either.
