So let me get this straight. Jim Jordan wants to be Speaker, but he doesn’t nearly have the votes, so he’s going ahead anyway counting on his allies to bully and harass his opponents into submission by inundating them with MAGA extremist calls to their offices, with the help of Sean Hannity on Fox? If I were a holdout, this would make me dig in even further, but then again I don’t know what it’s like to be a Republican without a spine.

Voting for Jordan as SOH because they've been threatened and bullied into doing so is not just "tantamount" to giving into the bullies, it is de facto giving into the bullies.

It may be whoever replaces the current set of not-really-moderates will be even worse, and will openly support Jordan's and Trump's plans to finish turning the US into a fascist kleptocracy, but we don't know that for sure. Maybe some "Independents" will decide they like democracy

@georgetakei It is time for centrist Repubs to break away and form a new party - call them "Tories" or whatever - who can form a governing coalition with democrats, be they centrist Dems, Greens, or Dem Socialists. We have an illusion of a two party system, and a reality of probably a coalition of three parties on either side.
