@KiffinEileen Instead of improving human's conditions we prefer to kill each other. The mankind is really great

@KiffinEileen
I invite you to look at the budget of your, or really any country bar North Korea.

I guess also the drama about NATO countries not spending even 2% of their budget in armies didn't happen where you live...

@iinavpov
Our country’s defence force is involved heavily in peacekeeping and training. I know we’re lucky because of Aotearoa’s geographic location.

@KiffinEileen

“Ask not who the shithole countries are. Ask why your country is a shithole country.”

From the original:

“Ask not what those in power can do for you. Ask what you can do for those in power.”

Fuck you sideways, repressive, gaslighting governments.

@RodneyPetersonTalent
Don’t think my country is as you describe
Do research Aotearoa New Zealand’s peacekeeping

@KiffinEileen
I think most people would agree to the sentiment expressed in the drawing.

The problem comes with getting them to agree on which side should defund which war....

@KiffinEileen I was skeptical about the date, because a woman is used to represent the sciences. It's actually 70 years old this year, though, looks like, so close enough and I'm impressed!

Yuliy Ganf

Yuliy Ganf (also written as "Yulii Ganf") was an Ukrainian-Russian graphic artist, poster designer and political cartoonist. He was one of the most prominent illustrators in the satirical magazine Krokodil. His 1953 anti-war cartoon, 'This Restaurant Serves Only One...

@KiffinEileen 80 years old, so WW2, right?
It kind of hits different when you view it as an urge to not "waste" money on the war on Nazi Germany.
@anymouse_404 @KiffinEileen it's a soviet cartoon from 1953, intended to be explicitely anti-US, but it's kind of a meaningless theme appropriated again and again with the original russian labels badly drawn over like here
@KiffinEileen Exactly what I thought when I saw a post that described Ukrainian war as a good investment by USA.
@KiffinEileen Love that the one woman in STEM is just as justifiably pissed off as today.
@KiffinEileen Such a sad commentary on "civilization".

@KiffinEileen A friend of mine has previously explained how it's anti-semitic though, so might need to be a bit careful with its usage.

(Check noses and ears)

@troed @KiffinEileen I might be ignorant (I know very little about this, so I probably am!), but aren't the four servers pretty much as different as they can be in terms of both noses and ears? The only thing they have in common appears to me to be the fact that they are old white men, which is probably fair.
@KiffinEileen It's a shame it was uncredited and didn't even include the strap line. It's by Yuliy Ganf, and the line is
"In America - At This Restaurant Only One Person Is Served"
(granted, it works without the text, as great 'toon should, but Ganf wrote it, so it's only polite to include it).
@KiffinEileen true for any non-peacekeeping country.

@KiffinEileen
While the overall sentiment is true, if this is 80 years old, it is probably about WW2.

The people in English-speaking countries who opposed joining the war were often people who didn't want to fight against the Axis.

In America, this is where the "America First" slogan comes from.

@KiffinEileen
Cmdr. William Riker : Because at 11:00, an alien ship will begin passing through this solar system.

Dr. Zefram Cochrane : Alien. You mean extraterrestrials? More bad guys?

Deanna Troi : Good guys. They're on a survey mission. They have no interest in Earth. Too primitive
