@cferdinandi Israel has been trying for *years* to find a way to co-exist peacefully with the Palestinian people. Israel provides basic utilities like water, electricity, etc.

The Palestinians are just as much a victim of Hamas as the Israeli people.

The history of the region is long and complicated. Sadly, most of what the international community knows is based on propaganda and not facts. Too much to enumerate in such a short text limit as Mastodon.

@c__beck Israel the state is doing war crimes. It’s not just about Hamas. and that’s to say nothing of Israel’s state sanctioned settlement of Palestinian controlled land for years.

@c__beck just to be clear, Hamas are terrorists. What they did is horrific. Israel ALSO doing terrorism in response is also bad.

@cferdinandi Israel is doing the same thing that the US did when the Twin Towers were attacked. Was the US terrorists then?

Israel is defending it's right to exist against a terrorist organization that only wants to see Jews dead. It has nothing to do with the Palestinian people.

I'm also confused about your "state sanctioned settlement of Palestinian land", as Israel left the Gaza strip in 2005, forcibly removing their own citizens.

@cferdinandi Israel is doing the best they can in an unenviable position. Have they made mistakes in the past? Yes. They are only human. Are they trying to do better? Also yes.

With the world being turned against them right now no matter what they do they will be vilified, and that's not right.

We also have to remember that Hamas is using Palestinian people as human shields in order to get the sensational headlines that makes Israel look like the bad guys. And that's not right, either.

@cferdinandi Hell, Israeli troopers even let the civilians know when and where the strikes were to be done so they could evacuate. Hamas has literally prevented the civilians from leaving

@cferdinandi I'll be honest, I'm not as well-versed in the West Bank as I am with Gaza, but I do know that Israel has tried numerous times to let Jordan have it back, and they've declined over and over
