Tonight's Burd's #31NightsOfHorror pick is one of those films that I just never quite got around to watching before but I have listened to many a podcast recap and review. This has resulted in me having a very specific idea in my head of this film but I acknowledge it is a pretty glaring blindspot.
It's going to feel really good to finally check it off the list later tonight.
I understand why a lot of modern movies withhold their title card until the end. But, damnit, I love even the most basic opening title because I too am basic.

I went to look at my original review of The Evil Dead as I was getting ready to start it up. And you know what? It is a really satisfying feeling to read a piece of writing from a few years ago that I still 100% stand by.
Like, if I had to write it again today, I wouldn't change a got dang thing.
It's not terribly profound but I certainly am terribly proud of it.

Love | Like | Indifferent | Dislike Love a cabin in the woods. Watching a 4k of a 16mm film is weirdly cool. I've said in the past, this movie scared the shit out of me as a kid. I turned it off at the porch swing shot my first time watching because it creeped me out so bad, but that shot is burned into my head. Live contemporary scoring is the secret to making "boring" old silent films instantly more accessible. I try to offer it as a recommendation when I talk to folks who say they can't get into silent films.

Love | Like | Indifferent | Dislike Canadian Scifi Horror Go! What an opening mind fuck. Not scary, just mentally and emotionally devastating. Cold War dry, dark humor. A clever attempt to show a world ending nuclear war on a budget. The, "its all happening down there and we're stuck up here." A little harrowing almost, if you look past some of the acting. I was interested & even a little excited excited by the time re-entry occurs. Things really went downhill fast on Earth, huh? This only really is funny when you see it. But I litterally paused the movie
I was gonna roll the dice on picking another Scifi Horror as a BOO-nus 👻 Watch tonight but after riding so high with Def-Con 4, I really don't want to risk a dud.
So I'm hedging with a sure fire hit.
