It’s National Coming Out Day! Two things to know. First, there is no “right” time to come out, and to do so should be your PERSONAL choice, not someone else’s decision. Second, it’s never too late! I came out in 2005, after living more than six decades largely in the closet. And I’ve never been happier.
@georgetakei obviously there is a "right" time, and that would be just after 4 in the afternoon.
@georgetakei Oh George! I’m a huge fan, & I find your writings to be be erudite and witty. I laughed out loud at “ largely in the closet”. I don’t know why. I am not dismissing or minimising your personal journey, but that phrasing’s perfect for @mastodon
@georgetakei
Last night our school board voted for a policy that would force teachers to either deadname trans kids or out them to their parents, or both. Interesting timing, on their part, it seems.
@georgetakei Yes, indeed! I came out as bisexual at the age of 45 and as nonbinary at the age of 75. It's never too late!

@georgetakei

Thank you, for coming out, you have made a difference in the lives of so many young LGBTQ people!

@georgetakei Good For You👏🏽You are now truly you 🫶🏼
@georgetakei coming out is brave in countries that guarantee death for honesty of life style. It’s insane to be a human sacrifice . Advocate from a distance.

@georgetakei

I’ve seen you before on Metro buses. It’s surprising to me how people recognize you even now. I resisted the urge to say Double dumb ass on you.

@georgetakei Wow! I thought my 4.5 decades merited a mention in the Guinness world record book. Congratulations (belatedly so!), George. I don’t know about yours, but my closet was getting musty!
