Solidarity alert! #Bandcamp has been sold to #Songtradr, and Songtradr's CEO has not recognized the the #BandcampUnited union and is not promising to offer jobs to all current employees.

A terrible look ahead of #BandcampFriday, new owners!

@christinkallama why would he have to offer jobs? Don't their employment contracts automatically continue on unbroken with the new owner? Legally speaking in most mature jurisdictions employment is deemed to be continuous and unbroken even if there is a change in owner.
@martin_piper
Apologies if my wording was unclear--the issue is that some employees may lose their jobs (always a distinct possibility when new ownership comes in) and, in the context of the recent unionization vote, it's not just a matter of fairness to individual employees to assure their continued employment, but a matter of respecting labor organizing.
@christinkallama I see. By default, any current employee who is in a union would still be in that union with the new owner. I would expect any new owner that tried to substantially and unilaterally change employment contract terms and conditions (by not recognizing the union status of an employee) would lose quite significantly in court.
