Just went to pick up a prescription refill for my hormone replacement, which I really need to be able to function like a normal human. A three month supply of progesterone, which I bet is cheap to make, was $170. WTH. I dug around in my wallet and found a GoodRX discount card and it dropped to $45. Navigating the incredibly stupid US healthcare system gets increasingly annoying the older I get. #Healthcare #Pharma #Menopause #Ripoff
@Jennifer The U.S. healthcare system is stupid complex. I go to a particular pharmacy because the pharmacist and pharmacist assistants always take the time to hunt down the least costly option for my prescriptions. I appreciate that they do, but I also think they should not have to do that. It's ridiculous that there are so many cost levels, and hoops to find and jump through, for basic medical care.
@Nmyownworld @Jennifer Eeek $45 is still too much! Definitely Cost plus drugs or I've noticed better prices on Single care app than GoodRx. I'm a Social Worker that loves fighting the system because it makes me so mad. Let me know if you need help! And -another tip-vaginal estrogen should never be more than $30 a tube.😉
@LauraSW @Nmyownworld that's also around $180, GoodRX knocks it down to around $50. I can afford it, I just have an aversion to greedy pharma ripping me off on drugs I know are super cheap to make. I wouldn't mind so much if these were some specialty drugs. Although a friend has ALS and her drugs are around $20,000 a month. She had to fight with her insurance company to get them to pay up. I hate our greedy healthcare industry.
@Jennifer @Nmyownworld Look at vaginal estrogen on SingleCare. I've seen it for under twenty on there but it depends on your zip code and store you use
