"Dems must be more moderate to win over voters."

Okay lets go with that theory:
•A living wage is moderate—a poverty wage is extreme.
•Healthcare for all is moderate—denying care is extreme.
•Climate justice is moderate—denying climate science is extreme.

Reject GOP Framing. Vote GOP Out.

@QasimRashid make it about democracy, a living wage, Medicare and social security. And show Americans how extremist they are and call out their MAGA bs head-on. https://youtu.be/NfVQcMM1fK4?si=NoPl9MA9vhD5AzWG

@QasimRashid Plus, Republicans already aren't voting Democratic anyway. It's not like going left causes Dems to lose votes.
@QasimRashid Today's Democrats are much closer to the Republicans of the 1980s than today's Republicans are. That's how far the US has shifted to the right in the past few decades. Democrats already are moderate by today's standards.
@QasimRashid Never let the other side set the terms of the debate, correct them every time, refuse to use them. Because if you do they have already won.

@Susan_Larson_TN @QasimRashid

The "left" (in quotes because the US political spectrum runs from centre right to extreme right) in the US have been allowing conservatives to not only define the terms of the debate for decades, they have allowed them to redefine all the terms needed to have a political discussion.

The GOP has created newspeak.

This article by Philip E. Agre delves into it and other things.

What Is Conservatism and What Is Wrong with It?

@QasimRashid This stance always confused me because I see US politics as largely various idk maybe bell curves of different distant camps, if you move to the middle of it you are attracting less people than if you moved more well into one of those groups. Trump for example didn't attract so much of the republian party by being moderate.
@QasimRashid “moderate” is now left of where Dems are at, not right. Only crazy is to the right, now.

@QasimRashid

The United States has two parties, a Center-Right party, and an Ultra-Right-Wing fascist party.

The GOP had dragged the country so far right it's corrupted the political heart of the country.

@QasimRashid this isn't GOP framing. It's DNC framing.

The DNC says it needs to be more to the right to win votes. It's a lie. They say that because their real base is corporate donors.

@QasimRashid it's vastly underappreciated how much right wing ideology has toxified seemingly 'moderate' ideas (this also happened with covid policy!)
@QasimRashid they call us communists even though we aren't pushing for things like the abolition of the free market or money
@QasimRashid Even outside of that, basically every democrat policy is hugely popular among voters, if people voted according to policy instead of political tribe, democrats would get something like 80%+ of the votes. Policy isn't the problem, messaging is.
