5 conservative cardinals challenge pope to affirm church teaching on gays and women ahead of meeting - Lemmy.world

The Catholic Church has actively ran the longest largest worldwide Pedophile ring in human history. For the past 1800 years the Catholic Church recruited, supported, obfuscated, defended, and excused pedophilia, which continues to this day. The fact the Catholic Church still allowed to operate, in any way shape or form, with youth of any kind, in any country, anywhere, means we've all purposefully lost the thread. Beside the Catholic Church being criminal, it's only shown how very little adults care about the systematic raping of children. Like, at all.

That’s not the worst thing they did.

Ask yourself: why did the Holocaust happen exactly? Who is responsible for almost all antisemitism, from past to present?

That’s a bit of a stretch don’t you think. I don’t like the church either but saying they’re responsible for the Holocaust is quite a leap lmfao
They are unquestionably responsible for helping a load of high level Nazi murderers to escape after the war, so maybe it’s not too much of a leap considering how pervasive the Nazi message has remained after all these years
That’s helping them escape, not being responsible for what nazis did. I mean it’s irreparably damaging to their already abominable image but it wasn’t their fault Hitler rose to power.
I wasn’t offering that as evidence that they were responsible for the Holocaust, I was offering it as an example of their close ties with the church. Unless you think they just became buddy buddy with them after the war ended?
Perhaps but the problem is that we don’t know how deep their role was. There plenty of reasons hate on the catholic church without inventing things.

The problem here is that you don’t know how deep their role was. Nothing is being made up. Pope John XXIII even wrote about the role Catholic antisemitism played in the lead up to the Holocaust.

Auschwitz today is a deceptively peaceful place. Walking down the tree-lined streets between the red brick dormitories, you can easily imagine yourself on the grounds of a small New England college. There are few outward signs that an estimated 1.5 million people were slaughtered here. One of them was a Roman Catholic nun, Sister Teresia Benedicta of the Cross. On Oct. 11, Sister Teresia Benedicta — who is better known by her given name of Edith Stein — was formally declared a saint and martyr by Pope John Paul II.
