@bodhipaksa
Their main biographer wis a man cried Joseph Train, bit his book is verra rare ( an a bit o a mess an aw, accordin tae Mr Cameron there). He wis a correspondent o Walter Scott's an a Gauger in Castle Douglas. Maist o onyhin about them comes frae him as the main source.
We hae a copy in Dumfries at The Ewart librarie, Ah want tae get a skech at it yince Ah'm din wi this book.
@Alternatecelt @bodhipaksa I came across them I think. They were a bit mad iirc
@DanielHunter
Aye, they were jist a wee bit!
Their leader was a charismatic woman called Elspeth 'Lucky' Buchan, who after being run out of Irvine lead them into Nithsdale where they lived in a commune. She was convinced them to fast for 40 days, after they had made an unsuccessful attempt to fly to heaven.

@Alternatecelt Didn’t they take over a village or something?
@DanielHunter
They were at Crocketford for some time, and they worked for locals while there, but as there were about 60 of them, I bet it would seem like they'd taken over.
