@pseudonymsupreme The new Zelda games (The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom) don't rely on having played any of the previous Zelda games, so go ahead! TotK is a direct sequel to BotW, so I would suggest playing those two in order, but even that is not a necessity.
As for other games, I also suggest picking up Super Mario Odyssey! That one, along side the Zeldas, are basically must-owns.
@pseudonymsupreme For multiplayer fun, you can't go wrong with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. And Splatoon 3, but note that it only has online multiplayer (unlike the others who also have local multiplayer) and thus requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
If you do subscribe to the service, make sure to download the free NSO games from the eShop: Tetris 99, F-Zero 99, Nintendo Entretainment System - NSO, Super Nintendo Entretainment System - NSO and Game Boy - NSO. If you decide to go for the Expansion to the NSO, you'll also get free access to DLC for MK8D, Splatoon 2 and Animal Crossing New Horizons, as well as Nintendo 64 - NSO, Game Boy Advance - NSO and SEGA Mega Drive - NSO.
Finally, looking at the games you listed, maybe you'll enjoy Metroid Prime Remastered and/or Metroid Dread. The former is likely more your style in terms of gameplay, but both are set in a fantastical sci-fi universe.
For cute games, I also suggest Kirby and the Forgotten Land!
