@shipscrewunscrewer @synth23 oh no! Donostia has an astounding bike infrastructure (minus the number of red lights for bikes), the last 2 pictures are from Donostia. I would say that it's actually slower moving by car, because the roads in Donostia are usually very congested. Also, when there's construction they care about giving a viable path to cyclists. Let's hope that adding the (mini) subway in 2024 (I hope) improves the situation.

@markelfe @synth23 Oh sorry I formulated that badly, I meant the public transport. I was looking at options to get there again for a conference at the end of October, and for some reason the only options were taking a major detour with the train or a slow bus

@shipscrewunscrewer @synth23 Yeah, the only train options are changing from the high-speed train in Bayonne to the regional Euskotren line. However, there's a high-speed train incoming (Y vasca) that should (hopefully) solve that (France has connections with Bilbao and Donostia in their 2030 strategy)

@haobo_12 @notjustbikes The Euskotren is not impressive. It’s main feature is the low cost (€6.50). It took 3 hours to travel from San Sebastián to Bilbao. Part of the journey involved taking a bus to Eibar before reconnecting with the Euskotren. The bus only takes 1.5 hours.

@synth23 @notjustbikes Oh that's bad. I guess part of the problem are narrow gauge tracks and old infrastructure.

@haobo_12 @synth23 @notjustbikes i just did this journey a couple days ago and an operator told me the bus bridge on the E1 is a temporary situation till tunnel work is complete. That said, the bus will still probably be faster!
