We lived right by the Javaplein tram stop when we lived in the Netherlands, and the sound of trams speeding up and dinging their bell was a constant background noise in our home life. The little intro on Not Just Bikes takes me right back there every single time.
I'm catching up on the @notjustbikes videos I haven't watched yet, and I'm currently watching the "Even Small Towns" video. It's fun, because I visited most of these places when we lived there, but I didn't care about traffic safety at the time (I didn't need to), so I'm watching this video with a new lens, and something VERY striking: ALL. THE. BOLLARDS. Seriously, watch this video and keep an eye out for bollards. They're everywhere!

I'm checking out Diepenheim from that video, as it's one I've never been to and is smaller than our Canadian village, so it's an interesting point of comparison. They too have no real grocery store in town. But check out these bollards! In a town of 2600 people.

I also really like the small stones in that second photo. I'm never gonna get our town to put in bollards, but putting some rocks in is slightly more achievable.
