This is today, and it is not being talked enough about outside of Sweden if you ask me.
Lets hope this doesn’t go anywhere, but keep speaking up about the things Medin reports on.
For complex issues, it used to be easy. You followed your parents, the church, your work and the state (consciously or unconsciously). But those moorings have come loose/have fallen into disrepute and people have to do a lot more by themselves.
The majority of people are really bad at thinking through this complexity. And that has nothing to do with intelligence, education or access to knowledge. It’s a skill you can be born with, you can develop or you might just be unable to ever learn it.
It’s not just ‘the bubble’. It’s also that we’re just really bad at accepting plurality and complexity of ‘the truth’.
As humans, we try to simplify problems to understand them, that’s what helped us survive.
