New findings that SARS-CoV-2 can directly infect and replicate in coronary arteries, promoting plaque inflammation atherosclerosis, and cardiovascular risk https://nature.com/articles/s44161-023-00336-5
@erictopol Eric? Is it ok if I hit the power button?

@erictopol

To be expected given that #COVID targets ACE receptors in the blood vessels (arteries and veins). See this thread, intended for the lay audience. This thread is very helpful in explaining why the author expects antigen tests to continue at their current level (I.e., per the FDA, you need use 3 tests, spaced 48 hours apart: 1 test is not enough). Contains clear information about #SARSCOV2 replication and mutation as well.

ETA:a fyi for your readers, not you.

Attached: 1 image Now ACE2 is *widely* expressed in human tissues, so it makes a great target for a virus. Not only is it found in lung epithelial cells in the alveoli in our lungs, it's also present in the epithelia of both sets of blood vessels: arteries and veins.

This is why I refuse to stop wearing KN95 masks.

@erik @erictopol sorry if I’m dense but what does NB mean?
@amb @erictopol No problem! NB here means nota bene; Latin for “note well”
