Rob Styles@briannawu here's a better angle and higher resolution. You can see from this angle that it takes the large air intake at the top (coming in from the air box on the right) and exits below the device to the heads, left and right.
It's a throttle body.
It controls the rate of fuel and air going to the engine when you press the go faster peddle.
