I think about this a lot. Every game is a miracle. #GameDev
@antimnguyen I would say 90 people with no soft skills, 10 people with them and of those hundred 50 and 50 distribution between autism spectrum and adhd traits. Only thing certain is that at least one marketing person has adhd and soft skills.
@antimnguyen oops. 50/50 distribution is wrong. They are not mutually exclusive.
@sauli @antimnguyen One of my teams had a 100% autism rate at one point lol
@antimnguyen all business-critical decisions will be decided by a 106th individual who has more money then the rest of them combined, has never met/will never meet any of them, and whose only measure of success is the ease with which he can convince other extremely wealthy people that he is making more money this quarter than last quarter.
@antimnguyen
And i am making games alone... just only of not using unity...

@antimnguyen

good news! We hired some leaders with soft-skills!

bad news! They're dead-eyed sociopaths with MBAs.

good news! They've fixed the productivity problems and the games are profitable!

bad news! We've turned the entire gaming industry into slot-machines made by sweatshops.

@antimnguyen

At first I was like, I have that! Let me in!

And then, the rest of responses cured me of that delusion.

@antimnguyen Well, at least the Sales and Marketing department is full of manically extroverted sociopaths to make up for it
@antimnguyen let's not forget about the Munchausen's syndrome afflicted marketers and sales people and the feral-capitalist investors that over promise to an unethical media filled that panders to the common denominator, an entitled mass of loudmouths with more money than sense.
@antimnguyen I've thought this about most software development. I'm not sure how any software works at all, and I've been a dev for 20 years.
@antimnguyen The first half of this also describes working in an art college, except the managers all have ADHD, too.
@_sorcha @antimnguyen This may be a little oversensitive but as someone with a genuine honest to goodness psychiatric diagnosis of ADHD and a kid who’s currently struggling with ADHD in the local school system it would sure be nice if people wouldn’t joke so much about it.
@antimnguyen @m I’m sorry you’re feeling sensitive about it. A very high percentage of both my students and colleagues also have diagnoses of ADHD, which is incredibly common in art colleges - if your child ends up in a creative line of work, they will absolutely not be alone or unsupported, we really don’t work the way school does.
@antimnguyen People with OCD are also on the spectrum. Hire some.

@antimnguyen ah.

that would explain how a really popular E-rated social game marketed to kids got published with zero anti-harassment or privacy controls.
