A storm is headed our way. Environment Canada says we can expect a “bomb cyclone” with winds of 100 km/h. Trees will fall on power lines, and we will probably lose power for days.

Although there will be rain, they say this will mostly be a “wind event.”

Who came up with that term? It sounds like a euphemism. “Excuse me,” says the passing cloud, “I had a wind event.”
