I find it amusing that, without any ability to make rules against it or even really moderate people talking about it, I can go on endlessly promoting #Mastodon / #Fediverse on #Twitter, but on here, moderation tools are so strong that if we want to mention Twitter but not actually talk about it (as in, saying we saw something on Twitter), we have to use euphemisms like #BirdSite or #TheOtherSite to get around being accidentally caught in people's filters...
@Raccoon if people don’t want to hear about it, why are you trying to force it on them? It’s not like they can’t set filters for #birdsite either. At this point they probably have one for that too.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about how sometimes we will be talking about something that only incidentally involves Twitter, like saying that you saw something or follow someone on Twitter, but not actually being a post about Twitter itself. People block "Twitter" because they don't want to hear about Twitter drama.

People should NOT be using euphemisms to talk about Twitter if they are actually talking about Twitter, as that IS doing something that gets around the intent of people's blocks, and whenever I see people doing it, I remind them that there isn't a rule against talking about Twitter, but that using euphemisms like that undermines people's blocks.
