About 15 years ago I foolishly ran down the stairs of a Boston subway station and dislocated my shoulder. I popped it back in and saw a doctor immediately after. I've dislocated it again a few times since, but most recently I did it in my sleep! Finally motivated me to see a doctor and see what we can do about this...
@danielpunkass Had same thing happen in NYC subway. Slipped in a puddle. Popped it back in. Was a bit surreal.
@hdjurkio Oh yeah, you must have the same surreal kind of memory as I do. Adding to my story: a homeless man sitting in the stairwell said something along the lines of "that's not good".
@danielpunkass I have to know which station this was (wild guess is Government Center)
@samcat116 It was Downtown Crossing, I had just left the Filenes (at the time) and was rushing down the stairs to get back home ... I though 😂
@danielpunkass I just went through the surgery to fix a frequently dislocating shoulder if you have any questions about it!
@danielpunkass (I’m guessing it’s a torn labrum and will require surgery.)
@danprovost Thanks! I think this process will lead to an MRI so hopefully I'll get a result one way or another. Did the surgery work well for you?
@danielpunkass yep! I’ve had it on both shoulders, the left 15 years ago and the right 6 months ago. A bit annoying to be in a sling for 6-8 weeks and to do physical therapy but it’s worth it, in my experience it seems to fix the problem completely.
@danielpunkass Not gone as far as dislocating a shoulder (sympathies, by the way), but I have locked up my back while I’ve been sleeping. Had to slowly stretch once I woke up just to be able to get out of the bed. Not cool. Getting older is not for the faint of heart.
