My wife has been pretty active in filling our yard with native plants and pollinators and she was able to catch this amazing video of a monarch in the garden. Hope this brings a smile to someone this weekend! 😀

@bkrupp That is so cool! At first I thought this was a time lapse video and then I quickly realized - No! This is real time!

@bkrupp It’s a great reminder! When I was a kid we had milkweed and monarchs plentiful in our area.

It was a common early grade school thing to capture a monarch chrysalis after it had attached (cut off the stalk and place it in a large jar or terrarium) and observe it at home or in the classroom.

Thanks. This brings back memories.

@bkrupp That was incredible! Thank you.
@bkrupp Wow! I’ve always wanted to see that!
@bkrupp I am reminded of an “unboxing” video for some new tech, but this was way more interesting. Thank you for sharing!
@tartanroots keep watching when nothing seems to be happening
@bkrupp How wonderful to see. Thanks to you both. I thought it was time lapse at first, then gave a little happy gasp when I realised it was in real time, that she was literally standing there watching as it happened.

@bkrupp

This video starts slowly, but hang with it.

@bkrupp great no #timelapse right? Just downloaded this nd wibder how to cite and acknowledge if I useit in a lecture?
@bkrupp beautiful! Thanks for posting
@bkrupp That is amazing. I always imagined it took hours to fully emerge and prepare their wings but nope.
@bkrupp it looks like such hard work. And I imagine pumping up the wings feels a bit like when your leg's gone to sleep. Magical video!
@bkrupp I am fascinated by the butterfly’s knowledge of how hatching works.
