The federal charges come nearly six years after an earlier criminal case against Senator Menendez ended with a deadlocked jury. This latest indictment is unrelated to the earlier charges that alleged the senator accepted gifts to pressure government officials on behalf of a #Florida doctor.

In a new statement, responding to calls for his resignation, Sen. Menendez (D-NJ) says: “It is not lost on me how quickly some are rushing to judge a Latino and push him out of his seat. I am not going anywhere.”

@Julie @w7voa Honestly, I don't have a big issue with Democrats like John Edwards who are good Democrats and simply are horny on a John or Bobby Kennedy level. I don't like it, but there are some people who simply are like that. But accepting bribes from foreign countries while you were Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee? Fuck you. We can find a better Dem. Be a patriot, ffs.
