Those charts showing the tendency of different generations to become more conservative as they age are fascinating BUT don’t I think cover one of the big factors; older generations tend to be more conservative partly because the mortality rate is so much lower in the rich compared to the poor.

Or to say it another way, surviving Boomer voting cohorts tend to be very politically Right because some of that cohort has died, and no longer votes. Millennials retaining left-liberal views is partly about improving rates of mortality

Which is related to another factor in inequality, everyone points out the generational effect (‘OK boomer’ and so on). And that’s real!

But pay attention to the generational inequality *within* those generational cohorts; the Boomers’ extraordinary concentration of wealth is also extremely maldistributed amongst themselves, on the usual contours of class, gender, race-ethnicity, and other statuses

Finally, Generation X Will Be Worse
Convincing your political opponents to take up smoking is praxis
@liamvhogan Takes too long. How about getting them into making artificial stone benchtops?
@liamvhogan then theres covidiocy, alcoholism, consumerism, coke, meds .. above what $ per annum is it 'let them'?
@liamvhogan there’s a theory floating around that elder GenX will be, but younger GenX won’t because they were fucked like millennials (now 40+) were
@jpm if my theory is right, it’s relevant that younger people seem to be taking part in fewer and fewer risky behaviours (especially smoking). Let’s see how many older Gen X make it to retirement voting age
