Fond #gaming memory: I was watching someone else play #EldenRing and idly mentioned how the PvP scene was presently dominated by Rivers of Blood, then the streamer scoffed and said "that's old news; I'm gonna go into PvP and just spam the Rivers of Blood special attack over and over, watch me get destroyed."
He proceeded to kill the host player five times out of five attempts with that exact strategy and promptly ended the stream in embarrassment.
@shinjiikarus I don't quite remember which calibration it was, but it was definitely post-nerf. Dunno about "returning", just that it was still a popular weapon at the time.
I think the streamer was just being touchy about it, too; the conversation was along the lines of "It's still gonna see some play just because of Bleed" and nobody actually mentioned Corpse Piler at any point.
@shinjiikarus Never was a Katana guy myself (ended up rocking the Nightrider Flail for my first playthrough), but if I was I probably would use the RoB... If only because getting the Hand of Malenia requires a bit more effort on the player's part.
I did hear that it got some of its damage back, even if it doesn't build up Bleed like it used to, which makes it sound pretty good as a boss-fighter to me. And hey, if the other guy in a PvP fight can't time their parries that well...
